I love this kind of writing, as I too have written a short like this.I love the way the story wastold although it could be a little confusing from the part of Jessica because her part was told in the past and present day, it went back and forth so I found myself having to reread some parts. However all in all I really enjoyed this portion of the book. Now on to part 2...

9 Months Book One 9 Months Trilogy 1 eBook Matt Shaw Reviews
A great book, excellent, easy to read and very suspensful. It makes you keep reading just to know what happens next. Can't wait to read the next chapter.
I get it you have to buy all the books to get the whole story but, really the story is choppy and as you try to get into it. proof done..now buy the thers
Didn't see that twist coming. Shocker before closing this first book. I really am totally surprised. Recommend you read this trilogy & be ready for surprises.
It was a pretty good book, a little slow at first to me but I did enjoy it. I thought the end was great I had my suspicions as to who the hooded figure was and was right. I look forward to reading the next two books. Would definitely recommend this.
okay, so I don't hate the story...what I hate is that these new formats for books are extremely annoying and I feel like I'm getting ripped off big time...instead of paying money for a book, you have to pay money to get part of the book--say the first few chapters and then if you want the rest of the story, you have to keep paying a few bucks to get it in short increments...I'm really not liking this way of selling on line books. Thinking I'll just go back to buying the paperbacks. Not only is it less expensive, but now I can sit down and read the entire story--not just an excerpt. Granted, not all digital books are sold this way, but I'm seeing it more and more often. Out of the 500 or so books I've purchased in digital format, at least 1/2 of them are that way. I end up paying well over $20 for the full book by the time I've purchased all the separate segments, whereas if I purchase the paper back, I"m paying anywhere from $5 to $10 for the entire story in one place at one time. NO MORE!!!! when the authors start putting the entire book in one book, I'll go back to buying digital.
3.5 stars
The beauty (and the curse) of the is that you can pick up a book (or twenty like I do!) and they get shuffled to the back of the pile until you rediscover them...and have no recollection what they were about, you just know they were interesting enough to want them. I didn't know what to expect with this one for that very reason. When I first cracked it open, I immediately liked the style, short choppy sentences, told from the characters' perspective. I don't like to harp on style too much, because it was clear that this book holds a strong English tone. My only real problem was how it switched back and forth between past and present tense. It didn't stop me from reading, however. The story is interesting enough to carry it past such minor bumps.
Strong characters made this really relateable. From Jessica's perspective, I was able to reflect back on my own first date experiences and, God, agonizing! When told from Darren's viewpoint, even better. I was able to get into the mind of the boy and see that he felt much the same way. Funny how, as a girl, you tend to forget that boys are human too )
When Jessica discovers she is pregnant, she isn't thrilled and is undecided what to do about it. Darren is sure, he wants to keep the baby, form a family and pretty much fashions an idyllic future in his mind. When Jessica reveals to him and her parents that she has chosen not to have the baby, he is devastated and vows to stop her from ruining his dream. So, when Jessica wakes up chained to the bed, there really is no question as to who is her kidnapper, right?
I really, really liked how the story flipped from Jessica in captivity to the events leading up to it. It was an interesting way to tell the story, and it took a little getting used to, but once I was in, I wan IN. The story leaves you hanging, but with a horrifying discovery, a truth that you kind of might have suspected could be possible, but could never really be sure, and now I have to know more!
Great little story, love the way it was told, the arc, the plot, the characters, the the intention, everything and then WHAM........you have to buy part two.
Wasn't sure how I was going to rate this because based on that, the rating would have been much lower, but that is not fair to Matt or to the story which is brilliant. And I have to rate on the story. The marketing on the other hand, well.....
You will not be disappointed in the writing. It is fresh, punchy and tight. The story has twists you do not see coming. Just would have preferred this in one book.
I love this kind of writing, as I too have written a short like this.
